नववर्ष की नई भोर में
नया स्वप्न फिर बुनती हूँ
नई उम्मीदें नया हौसला
नए तराने सुनती हूँ
नए सूर्य की किरण-किरण से
आलोकित हो उठती हूँ
चिड़ियों के मधुर कलरव में
नए संदेसे सुनती हूँ
इंद्रधनुष के रंग सभी
मन में पल-पल भरती हूँ
ईश्वर की अद्भुत रचना से
अभिभूत हो उठती हूँ

शहीदों की अमर कहानी को
तिल-तिल कर जीते देखा है!
हमने अपने उन अपनों को
हर आँसू पीते देखा है!
सो देश पे जो कोई हाथ बढ़े
हमको तो खंजर लगता है!
इस दिल के रिसते ज़ख़्मों में
फिर नश्तर-सा कोई चुभता है!
भूलें कैसे उन वीरों को
इक पल चैन से जो सोये नहीं!
भारतमाँ के जीवन के लिए
जो खुद कभी जिए ही नहीं!
हम सुंदर सजे हुए कमरों में
गीतों से दिल बहलाते हैं!
कभी ज्ञान की बातें करते हैं
खुशियों के दीप जलाते हैं!
क्योंकि दूर वहाँ इक प्रहरी खड़ा
बर्फ़ के बिस्तर पर सोता है!
देश के ही लिए जो जीता है
देश के ही लिए वो मरता है!
हमको अपनी हर इक मुस्कान
उनसे माँगी सी लगती है!
सूरज की सुंदर लाली भी
उनकी ही धरोहर लगती है!
