Next day we came to know that the roads to Rohtang Pass and the other nearby places were closed due to snow. So we decided to make the most of our stay and cover Manali on foot. This proved to be a good decision as we saw much of the natural beauty around which we could have missed if we had hired a car.
We came to know that Hidimaba Devi Temple was nearby and walked to it. It is one of the most important temple in Manali. Hidimba was the wife of Bhim, one of the Pandavas of Mahabharata. The temple enshrines her footprints. It has a pagoda roof and is built in the middle of a forest called Dhungiri Van Vihar.
The temple has some beautiful and artistic wooden carvings which depict mythological characters and motifs of animals & cosmic dancers.
Some photographers were clicking tourists’ pictures in native dress. We also got our pictures clicked. Can’t post those as we looked….. 😛 ‘Different’ Yes, thats the right word 🙂

I always feel that memories are the most precious jewels which we treasure in our mind and heart. They are a source of happiness forever. Whenever we turn the pages and recollect the memories we feel so happy. Thought of sharing these jewels with you……
Manali trip in 1997 is one of the precious memories….. Manali is a beautiful hill-station in Himachal Pradesh in India. It is named after the Brahmin law-maker Manu. In some Hindu traditions, Manu is believed to be the first of mankind.
The beautiful scenery was amazing. All tourists were excitedly discussing that snowfall was due at the Christmas time but had arrived one month earlier than usual. I felt it was another of those blessings which God sent to us out of turn :). Spent a very enjoyable day and evening in snowfall….dinner at a local Punjabi restaurant was equally delicious…….

अन्याय के विरोध में…..

Dedicating these thoughts to everyone everywhere in India and the whole world who stands up and fights for truth and justice…..

Posting the English translation too…….
If they answer not to thy call walk alone,
If they are afraid and cower mutely facing the wall,
O thou unlucky one,
open thy mind and speak out alone.
If they turn away, and desert you when crossing the wilderness,
O thou unlucky one,
trample the thorns under thy tread,
and along the blood-lined track travel alone.
If they do not hold up the light when the night is troubled with storm,
O thou unlucky one,
with the thunder flame of pain ignite thy own heart
and let it burn alone.
Ab Rashtradharm Ki Baari Hai

Kahin Kshetrawaad, kahin dharmonmaad,
Kahin bhaashawaad ka yuddh chhida,
Ab band karo, bas bahut hua
Ab Rashtrawaad ki baari hai!
Na tu Hindu hai , na hai Muslim,
Na Parsi, Sikh, Eesaai hai!
Is bantwaare se hum ghulaam hue,
Sada vipada desh par aayee hai!
Algaav-waad ki neeti se-
Jo Raajneeti chamkaate hain
Sab kaan kholkar weh sun lein-
Ab Raashtraneeti ki baari hai!
Tu na Marathi, na Punjabi,
Na hi tu Madrasi hai!
Rrin hai is desh ka bahut bada-
Bas tu ek Bharatwaasi hai!
Ekta mein Shakti hoti hai…..
Kitaabon mein to bahut padha:
Kewal padhna hi bahut hua-
Ab dikhlaane ki baari hai!
Ukhaad phekenge hum unko-
Jo Bharat ke tukde karte hain
Maharashtra, Assam, Kashmir mein rehne ka….
Har Bhartiya adhikaari hai!
Wahi hamaara asli Neta-
Jo Rashtrawaad ki baat kare
Jo Neta ban humko tode….
Wo Bhartiya nahin wo bahari hai!
BharatMaa ke chhalni seene ko
Dekhke bhi tu kab tak soyega?
Uth nidra se tu jaag zara….
Ranbheri ki taiyyaari hai!
Jis mitti mein tu janma hai,
Usse hai kaunsa dharm bada?
Hindu-Muslim bana tu phirta hai
Aisi bhi kya laachaari hai?
Kya is din ke liye Bhagat Singh phaansi chadhaa?
Azaad ne khaayee goli hai!
Ban Shoorveer ban Mahaveer
Kayarta tujh par bhaari hai!
Apne ghar mein hi tu darta hai
Aisa din ye hai kyun aaya?
Uth jaa teri Maa roti hai-
Uske tukde karne ki taiyyaari hai!
Ye jaan to ik din jaani hai-
Ise kab tak tu sambhaalega?
Mar gaya to Shaheed kehlaayega
Jeena-marna to jaari hai!
Chhod de Mandir-Masjid ko
Ye Desh hi Geeta-Quran hai!
Is jang mein shaamil hone ki-
Ab Ram-Rahim ki baari hai!
Hamaara karm bhi hai Bharat
Aur dharm hamaara bhi Bharat!
Hum sabne milkar thaan liya…
Ab Raashtradharm ki baari hai!
‘Jai Hind’ ‘Jai Bharat’
Mani
